Michelle is one smart cookie!

So our last dream team package’s theme was “Something home made”  I had Sheryl and made her some shabby chic jewelery frames.  They were all different sizes and painted blue and sanded just so.  They had little hooks and wires on them to hang necklaces, earrings and bracelets.  I loved them so much that I made some for me too.  I got my inspiration from these jewelry frames @ {Pottery Barn}.

I got my package from Michelle last week but my lame A camera phone just barely sent me the pics after 4 or 5 days of floating around in space.  I wonder if while they were out there they got zapped to some other persons phone as they bee bopped around.  Like some guy in Iran just got a picture message and he was like “oooh what is this Michellescookies.jpg pic message i just received???”   Sorry guy in Iran :)

See there that’s Michelle!  Hi MICHELLE! can you believe we get to see each other next week!  Okay so Michelle might be wondering why I have a picture of her family on my computer but when I had michelle’s name the first dream package swap I went through her whole blog saving pictures to my computer to use for a gift idea.  But now I don’t remember what the idea was… :)  But I do have like 300 pictures of her and her family saved in my computer!

So Michelle made me the cutest bag and the best thing is that I’m obsessed with big bags that I can drop things into.  I’m not a bag with pockets type of girl.  Also see that necklace that I’m wearing (I wish there was a better picture of it but that pic never made its way to my email although I sent it about 20 x.)  She made that for me to and I love it.  I never wear necklaces because I only own one and its in a tangled heap in my makeup drawer covered in toothpaste.  Also the thing that made me literally burst into tears and laughter is the tin of Smart Cookies that she sent.  I love my michelle.  I love my dream team.  They truly make my life so happy!

Just in the nick of time!

I got my second care package from my Dream Team friends.  It came on the best day ever… the day I started getting sick and needed a little pick me up.  So the theme this month was our favorite things and Mel sure spoiled me!!! Even better because i was so *coughy mccoupherson* since  being spoiled when your sick is even more ultimate.

shellie’s old white pasty lady hand

So inside was

A stationary notebook (which i’ve already written some of my book ideas down that come to me ;)

Cute pens (that come in all different colored inks… doodle time!)

Flower Ring (I know my hands look a little old.  why! Why! but seriously that ring is SPUNKY and oh so vintage looking!!!)

a BH&G magazine (i read this in bed the first day I was laid out…seriousy magazine reading in bed is the best)

Mixed CD with Regina Spektor and Queen!!! Oh gosh I love them both…

Sees candy- Peanut Butter Patties (i ate all of them in like a half hour… it was the only thing that was making my body feel better okay! sheesh!)

Blog recommendations - Knock Off wood & the Blog o cheese

& a linky to the most adorable etsy hat shop… Mel SERIOUSLY we are twins… I would buy a 20’s style hat too.. I LOVE HATS!

Dream Package!

This is how I see it in the preexistance.  I was really really good friends with all sorts of people and then I had like maybe 100 best best friends and we probably spent all day making each other laugh while we bounced on clouds.

And I am pretty sure that within that 100 included 3 girl angels that on this earth make up my dream team.  Oh gosh Shellie GAG me with a spoon!!  But I’m serious!!!  So my dream team friendship began like this… I wrote a post about being depressed, then Sheryl who had been reading my blog for awhile posted a comment, then a little while later Michelle who is Sheryl’s BFF posted a comment that her and Sheryl read my blog over the phone to each other and laughed a whole bunch, and then I emailed Sheryl and Michelle thanking them for their comments, and then I introduced them to Melinda because Mel is my twin and I knew that Sheryl and Michelle would love her and in my world the 4 of us would make up the ultimate dream team!

The best thing is that I know I can say my CRAZIEST wack a doo idea and they would all be game.  And you all better believe I have some crazy wack a doo ideas and Chad has had to listen to them for the past 8 years but never wanted to be a participant so its nice that I can say to these girls “Lets do this (insert weird funny idea) Wouldn’t that be fun?”  and they’ll all be like “YES!!!”

So then we were getting winter blues like big time so we thought it would be fun to do a package swap to cheer each other up and so for the first month the theme was Spring… i had Michelle’s name, Michelle had Melinda’s, Sheryl had mine and Melinda had Sheryl’s… i know thats a lot to follow.  The rules were $15-20, you could include home made stuff, and you take pictures and blog when you got your package!

So I get home from DisneyWorld and I had a package waiting for me on the counter from Sheryl!!!!

i had to take a pic of how freaking cute Sheryl’s handwriting is.  I would chop off her hands and use them as my own but then the nerve endings would be all fried so then my handwriting would be all bellspalsy so I guess that would destroy the purpose of chopping off her hands.

cute note that explained it all… including the meaning of life

note cards to wish people happy birthday or thank you or maybe even “you owe me money”  basically anything you write in a pretty note card just comes across so thoughtful :)

see how I used the packaging grass as a background for all the pictures!  this is a sweet little sticker jar… inside… homemade stickers!

Kate loved looking at all the stickers with “jewlies” and making up stories for them.

CHOCOLATE!  and I thought to myself “Self you gained 7lbs while you were on vacation don’t eat the chocolate right now… make it last for a month or so…”  but then after about an hour I had eaten the whole Symphony bar (on the left with the homemade wrapper)  I told Sheryl that I would take that wrapper and use it for like 20 years every time I ate a King size symphony bar… until the paper just disintegrated.

Oh and I know you might not be able to see but the flower on the symphony bar was a flower clip for kate :)  cute cute!

The yellow bag was filled with hershey kisses!

and the cutest spring table runner ever.  Thats the great thing about package swaps is you get really cute stuff that you totally would love but can’t justify getting for yourself because you think “oh I could use that $$ for something else like a stupid power bill”

Thanks Sheryl!!! It was so fun getting a present just for the sake of brightening my day and also picking and making other fun things for someone else to lift their spirits.

It makes me want to give dream packages to the whole world now! I am grateful for all my friends… old and new… it makes life more exciting having tons of people in your life who you get to share things with.

Southern Sayings

This story will be a first in a session of subsequent stories that are either  AWESOME/FUNNY/COOL/WEIRD/CRAZY   but that are not my own.   They are my friends stories that have been told to me over the years that I still laugh at or think about and I thought I’d share with you.  *with permission of course*

Today’s is entitled “Southern Sayings”  and told to me by my bestie who lives down the street from me here in Georgia.  Her name is Connie Baxter and she MEANS a whole lot to me.  She’s not only a GREAT friend but also like a sister and an aunt to my children.  My kate loves her more than me and always wants to have her  hair curled like “Miss Connie”

So Connie’s mom and dad came to visit from Oregon for a week or two last year.  Connie’s mom is the epitome of a sweet LDS woman.  She’s a home baked bread, clean a house in 30 minutes flat, read a story book to a grandchild, and never say an unkind word about anyone, kind of woman.

So one afternoon Connie’s mom goes with Mattie to school to help out in the classroom.  Since we live in the south a lot of our school teachers are well Southern… and that means there are a lot of southern traditions like saying “Yes Ma’m and No Ma’m”  and most of our teachers have southern accents…    and Mattie’s teacher is like SOUTHERN!  Like instead of saying “Push” she says “Mash”

 for example

“Will someone mash that button?”  which was asking one of the kids to push the elevator up button.

:) so cute!

So Connie’s mom comes home and is talking with Connie here’s their convo

Connie’s mom: Well I had a great time…  Its just that… well… I guess its okay to say some words to children here in the south.

Connie:  What words?

Connie’s Mom:  You know that saying… You get what you get…

Connie:  Yeah I have no idea what you are talking about

Connie’s Mom:  You know “You get what you get and you don’t Bitch a Bit

Connie:  Bursts into laughter

Connie:  No mom its you get what you get and you don’t PITCH a FIT

Connie’s mom:  OHHHH!

:)

oh goodness… its one of my favorite stories!

for my friend

i don’t know who’s broken heart to pray for

and i don’t know what to do

so i pray

that god will just send his love down

like a thousand shooting stars

and one will find its way straight to you

In my heaven

two things I would have for sure

#1  huge  air conditioned movie theaters that continuesly ran my favorite movies over and over with all the swedish fish and diet coke I could dream of.

#2  A massive bbq that never ends where I can meld all my favorite family and friends together and basically all we would do is eat, tell stories, make jokes and laugh until our faces hurt.

I’m still here in Utah having the time of my life.  you could read about some of our adventures here, here, and here!

Happy Delurker Day

So I’ve seen this on some blogs out there where they ANNOUNCE TO THE WORLD that they want the world to announce themselves. Huh?

Okay let me try this again.

So this morning at Stake Primary Meeting a girl I was sitting next to who I had never met asked if I was Shellie Kendrick. I said yes and she said “I read your blog. Someone told me about it right around the 4 B’s post” and I said “WHAT!”

not like  “What? :)” like “Oh Really? :)”

I Kind of half yelled “WHAT!” like she was my teenage daughter and she just sat me and her father down and told us not only was she pregnant, but also she was going to join the circus because the father of the baby was a dwarf who could swallow five swords.

But then the meeting started right after I yelled that like practically in her face and I felt so stupid.   Then I kept thinking man oh man I bet she thinks I’m so crazy, and mean, and weird.  I was like sweating bullets because I didn’t mean for that “what” to come out so forceful.  It just surprised me that she knew about my blog and plus taking 1 1/2 lortabs before I came didn’t really help with my brain capabilities.

So for the rest of the meeting I kept trying to make eye contact with her and at least try to smile at her so she knew I was nice and not crazy.  Kind of like how a snake looks at a little baby bunny rabbit.  I wanted to like pat her ears and tell her it was going to be okay… shhh now… its okay… shhhhh…. please still be sucked into my blog… closer… closer…  CLOSER.  gotchya ha ha ha

So then after the meeting ended I turned to her and tried to apologize for yelling at her and then tried to in the minute and a half to like find out where she was from, what her favorite color was??,  would she rather date Edward or Jacob?  If she had a million dollars to spend WHATwould spend it on?  jk I didn’t go that far…

but I did want to ask her was she on Facebook, did she have a blog??  basically I was trying so hard for her to see that I was nice and normal that I think I made the situation worse.  So she pretty much evacuated the situation. and I was thisclose to throwing myself at her legs and holding on for dear life until she would be forced to sit down and pry me off of her.  :(

So please for the love of all things good and awesome don’t let me be in a situation like this again where I end up looking like a big RTARDO!

if you read my blog it is now time for you to delurk yourself and become Free.  FREEDOM!  also for the first 10 delurkers I’ll send you something in the mail that has some sort of value.

if you don’t have a blog and you read my blog did you know that all you need to do is write your name in the name spot and your email address in the address spot?

If you do read my blog and you have a blog you have to put in your url… because I want to get to know you too.

Thanks I love you already and forever.

{Hugs for Rychelle}
